Championing the traditions

For traditional skills to not merely survive but truly thrive, they must be visible to the public. Stonemasons and carvers tend to be hidden away in workshops or behind scaffolding, making it difficult for the general public to appreciate or understand what we do.

As a Yeoman of the Worshipful Company of Masons, I have maintained an active presence at the Weald and Downland Living Museum since 2015, and from 2026 I will be demonstrating at Blenheim Palace. I am also working alongside the Archaeology Department at Swansea University and the Architecture Department at Cardiff University.

Through being present in the community, I hope not only to give the public a greater understanding of the craft, but to inspire the next generation to pick up the tools of these traditional trades.
