Hand design and cut letters are way we are able ad a personal touch to a project. Large or small having letter in stone atomatically communicates a sense of permeance, longevity and long term custodianship to those who read it. I work closely thought the design stage with clients on any commission so that everything from the stone type, layout and right down to the size of serif hold the desired meaning.
Losing a loved one can be one can be one of the worst thing to happen to you. I work closely with the clients to focus on what made that person one of a kind to make sure that the design of the stone reflects them and all the things in life that made them so special. Working with indigenous stones I then transfer these design using the traditional art of letter cutting to make something that will be a lasting memory in physical form.
Writing and reading can make us feel many things. As well as the more serious things it is important to try and find the sense of happyness play and joy in everything. When people thing of stone they think of its properties of being cold and hard and with the high risk in cutting it can seem very serious but I hope that my work can bring messages of optimism though choice of the right words and playful composition.
